چکیده

Wheat distillers dried grains with solubles (WDDGS) is a by-product that can be an alternative feed ingredient for poultry. However, WDDGS contains non-starch polysaccharides which limit its dietary inclusion. The objective of the current trial was to evaluate the effect of WDDGS with or without Endofeed W on egg quality and performance of laying hens. Endofeed W is a commercial enzyme including arabinoxylanase and β-glucanase. A factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design with 4 replicates consisting of 5 levels of WDDGS (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) and 2 levels of Endofeed W (0 and 0.05%) were evaluated. Ten mash diets were fed to 320 commercial Hy-Line W-36 hens from 51 weeks of age for 12 weeks. Each experimental unit consisted of 2 cages with 4 birds each. Performance criteria, such as feed intake, body weight and egg production, were monitored during the trial. Four eggs were randomly selected from each experimental unit to measure egg characteristics every other week. The data were analyzed using the GLM procedure of SAS. Hens fed diets containing WDDGS produced eggs lower on the Roche Yolk Color Fan scale. Endofeed W significantly (P < 0.05) improved overall feed efficiency and daily egg mass. There was no significant effect of WDDGS, Endofeed W or their interaction on hen-day egg production, egg weight, egg specific gravity, shell weight percentage, shell thickness and percentage of soft-shelled and cracked or broken eggs. In conclusion, WDDGS can be partly included in layer’s diet.

The Effects of Turmeric, Cinnamon, Ginger and Garlic Powder Nutrition on Antioxidant Enzymes’ Status and Hormones Involved in Energy Metabolism of Broilers during Heat Stress

This experiment was carried out to determine the effects of turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and garlic powder on mixed sex Cobb-500 broilers performance, serum antioxidant status, and serum thyroid hormones. Heat stresses were created by increasing ambient temperature to 32-34 ˚C from 12: a.m. to 16: p.m. during days 31-42 of the experiment. Blood serum samples were obtained from 6 broilers of each ...

Seed priming with Electromagnetic Field Improved Growth, Nutrition, And Metabolism of Salvia nemorosa L.

In this study, the efficiencies of seed priming with electromagnetic field (0, 2, 4, and 6 mT; 30 minutes daily for 3 days) were investigated in Salvia nemorosa. The exposure to electromagnetic filed led to significant increases in biomass accumulation (mean=53.6 %). Electromagnetic filed treatments significantly increased K, Ca, Mg, and Fe contents in leaves by mean 39.5 %. The electromagnetic...

Effect of Helicteres isora Bark Extract on Protein Metabolism and Marker Enzymes in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

The present study investigated the possible protective effect of Helicteres isora (Sterculiaceae) bark extracts on certain biochemical markers in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats. STZ treatment (60 mg/kg/i.p) caused a hyperglycemic state that led to various physiological and biochemical alterations. Blood levels of glucose, urea, uric acid and creatinine, plasma levels of albumin a...

Effect of protein intake and cold exposure on selected liver enzymes associated with amino acid metabolism.

The activity of five liver enzymes involved in amino acid metabolism was found to be markedly increased in coldexposed rats. However, the activity of three of the enzymes, arginase, glutamic-oxalacetic and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, was increased only as a result of a cold-induced higher protein intake. In contrast, the activity of tryptophan pyrrolase and tyrosine alpha ketoglutaric transm...
